APCO URGES CONGRESSIONAL ACTION ON DTV HEARING
APCO International sent a letter last week to all members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives urging them to take action now to pass legislation requiring broadcasters to vacate those TV channels that block public safety use of the 700 MHz band.

ATX ADOPTS APCO’S TELEMATICS BEST PRACTICES
ATX announced that it was adopting the "Best Practices For Telematics Call Processing" recently released by APCO International.

PSFA AWARDS $2.5 MILLION IN WIRELESS E9-1-1 GRANTS
The Public Safety Foundation of America (PFSA) has announced a series of grants to support and expedite the implementation of wireless enhanced 9-1-1 (E9-1-1) throughout the United States. In this round of funding, $2.5 million is being awarded to 37 grantees in 17 states.

E9-1-1 INSTITUTE HOSTS CONGRESSIONAL TECHNOLOGY FAIR
The E9-1-1 Institute will host a Congressional Technology Fair on September 21 from 1:30p.m. to 8p.m. at 902 Hart Senate Office Building. The event will highlight several E9-1-1 and emergency communication technologies and provide members of Congress, Capitol Hill staffers, and E9-1-1 Institute members with a first hand look at the latest communications and location detection technologies.

APCO TO TESTIFY AT HOUSE AND SENATE HEARINGS
APCO International has been invited to testify at the House Government Reform Subcommittee on Technology, Information Policy, Intergovernmental Relations and the Census oversight hearing on interoperability. Immediate Past President Vincent Stile will be testifying at this hearing while, simultaneously, Steve Devine will be testifying at the House Commerce Committee hearing on the 700 MHz/DTV transition issue. Both hearings are September 8 at 2p.m.
