Iowa APCO annually recognizes one or more of its peers with the Telecommunicator of the Year award. 

Nominations are generally accepted until mid-March for Telecommunicators who have done exceptional work the previous year and represent the best in the profession across the state of Iowa.  Persons have been nominated for overall excellence in job performance or for handling a particular incident in an outstanding fashion. 

Nominations are reviewed by the Telecommunicator of the Year Committee consisting of APCO members from the Northwest, Southwest, Northeast, Southeast and Central portions of Iowa.  The committee selects the winner and makes the presentation at the annual Iowa APCO Spring Conference.
