HOW TO FILE COMMENTS ON NPRM….
- Comments should be in Adobe
PDF, but Word or WordPerfect documents are acceptable also.
- You can also simply type a
brief message into the “comment box” but that is less effective than a
separate written document.
- Submitted documents should
contain the caption from the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking or at least the
docket number --94-102. See sample (NPRM SAMPLE1.doc)
- The docket number will also be
necessary to do the submission through Electronic Commission Filing System.
- Body of the comments should
state the identity and interest of the party submitting the comments and
then briefly state their position [APCO has provided some bullet points
(See Points.doc) to guide the comment writing, but effective comments will be in
the submitting party’s own words, not a cut and paste of a form. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE SUGGESTED POINT
VERBATIM. DO NOT CUT AND PASTE OR
ATTACH THE EXTENSIVE LIST OF POINTS.
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU WRITE COMMENTS FROM YOUR OWN PERSPECTIVE
AND EXPERIENCE..
- All comments require the name
and address of the submitting party.
An actual signature is not required. The due date is 14 days from
announcement in the Federal Register (which should be within just a few
days). Since there is a bifurcated
comment period, we recommend comments on the APCO petition (Section III.A.
of the NPRM) be filed separate and within the 14 day period.
- Additional issues can be
addressed in subsequent comments due within 60 days of Federal Register
publication
- BE SURE TO ASK THE COMMISSION TO RULE IN FAVOR OF PSAP
LEVEL ACCURACY AND IN FAVOR OF THE APCO PETITION.
