I spoke with the Louisa County Dispatch Supervisor this morning, Sherry Crooks, who was working on Friday when they received a call that one of their own (jailer/dispatcher) Kirk Massey of Wapello had been involved in a shooting. The shooting is being investigated as a murder/suicide involving his 22 year old girlfriend and their 4 year old child, Evan Massey. All were pronounced dead en route to the hospital.
Sherry stated that she
worked with Kirk this last week and saw no indications something was
wrong. He has worked there for several
years, and they are all working on auto-pilot. I offered staff to help work for
the funeral and Joe from Muscom has already stepped up and taken care of that.
