FCC ADOPTS SOLUTION TO INTERFERENCE PROBLEMS BASED BY 800 MHz PUBLIC SAFETY RADIO SYSTEMS

 

On July 8, in a decision that supports public safety, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) adopted a solution that will eliminate interference in the 800 MHz band.  APCO International President Vincent Stile commends the FCC for its decision.

APCO LAUNCHES CALL TO ACTION

 

On July 15, APCO International launched a Call to Action on Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) enhanced 9-1-1 (E9-1-1) asking members of the public safety communications community to help ensure that the needs and concerns of our telecommunicators and their agencies are considered in future congressional action on this issue.

The APCO International Board of Officers held a conference call with congressional staffers on July 9 to express their concerns with the current VoIP legislation.  APCO International staff also met with Rep. John Shimkus, Rep. Anna Eshoo, and Rep. Charles  Pickering’s offices regarding VoIP E9-1-1.  In addition, APCO International staff is working with Senate Commerce Committee staff to amend the VoIP Regulatory Freedom Act regarding 9-1-1.

APCO EXPANDS NLN

APCO International this week established a new list serve for its National Legislative Network (NLN).  All participants in the NLN have access to post and received messages on the NLN list serve.
