FCC Comments on NPRM Related to Wireless Location Data Presented to PSAPs
On May 31 the Commission met ( in spite of an unexpected delay in convening). As you know we were anticipating an NPRM with a very short turn around to address the Wireless accuracy issue.   The FCC has, in fact, issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) related to the APCO Petition for Declaratory Ruling on the old 94-102 docket.  The petition asks the FCC to clarify what the area for 911 wireless accuracy testing should be.  The APCO position of course supports PSAP level accuracy..

As Council Members, you are key components of information exchange to your chapters.   I need your help in getting the information disseminated and comments filed regarding this docket.  I have included with this message, documents prepared by Project Locate Team that may assist you and your chapter members in filing comments. Comments specifically addressing your own experience and knowledge are preferred.

I know how busy you are but please take the time to communicate with your chapter about this issue and encourage your fellow communications professionals to do so as well.   There is a very short timeframe following publication in the Federal Register for submitting comments to the FCC so please give this your immediate attention.  If you have questions you may contact Bob Gurss in our DC Office,  Nancy Pollock with the Project Locate Team or Me as I am always at your service..

We urge you to consider taking the time to submit comments to the FCC.  Thank you for your consideration.
